Discover Scuba Diving (DSD)

Try scuba diving for the first time! You will have a 30 min theory lesson in which you learn the basics of diving and then you will dive off the shore with our instructors down to 6 metres. If you love it (which you will), you can choose to do a second dive with us on our boat down to 12 metres.

Second Dive

Second Dive

After completing the Discover dive off the shore, you can join us for a second dive on our boat to a max depth of 12 metres. If you still want more (everyone does) you can learn to scuba dive with the PADI Open Water Diver course and this dive counts towards the course.

DSD off the shore first. Minimum age: 10 years old

From 8 years old your child can try scuba diving. This will be a private lesson, 1 instructor with 1 child, off the shore down to a max depth of 2 metres. Once they turn 10 years old they can do the Discover Scuba Diving or learn to scuba dive!

  • Participation in the second dive on our boat is optional and depends on the instructors’ suggestion after completing the shore dive.
  • If you have already done a DSD within the last year, we can find you in the PADI system.

Are you a beginner in SCUBA diving? No problem! No previous experience is necessary to try scuba diving for the first time by taking the PADI Discover Scuba Diving programme at Nima Dive Center. Just choose a day and an instructor will take you diving for the first time so you can discover Naxos underwater.

What happens on the day?

The DSD program is available for anyone 10 yrs old and above. Children 8-10 years old can participate in the PADI Bubblemaker program.

You will start your day diving at Nima with a theory lesson / dive briefing given by one of our instructors. We will also give you a booklet that explains the most important information about scuba diving for you to keep after your dive. Our instructors will explain all the equipment and are very happy to answer any questions you may have.

Then it’s time to try scuba diving for the first time!

Our instructors will gear you up and take you on a try dive down to a maximum depth of 6 meters.

Love it and want more?

Just one dive isn’t enough? After you’ve done this dive you can choose to dive with us second time on our boat at one of our dive sites in Naxos.

The average duration of this dive is 35-40 minutes depending on your air consumption.

Are you hooked yet! Time to learn to scuba dive properly.

You loved scuba? Of course you did, everybody does! If you loved diving your next step is to take the PADI SCUBA Diver course (SD) or Open Water Diver course (OWD) to learn how to scuba dive properly and earn your scuba diving license.

The cost of your Discover dive (& the second dive if you did it) will be excluded from the training and the total cost of either of these courses! So if you loved it and are ready to learn, there’s nothing holding you back.
